Meet Heather
Once upon a time, during my senior year of high school, my mother came home from work at the New York Telephone Company with a job application for me. They were hiring entry-level workers and here was my chance to get a job right out of high school.
I was horrified and deeply offended. In retrospect I know my mother meant well, but from my perspective then it was a different story. I had grown up seeing her come home from work unhappy every night with miserable stories of petty co-workers, unappreciative bosses and loads of negative energy. I knew at 17 she was not living her life’s purpose and I wasn’t going to follow that path. I knew I wouldn’t live an ordinary life, I just didn’t know what else was possible.

An overweight and unhappy college grad
Four years later, I graduated from Fordham University with a BA in Art History and worked in the NY art scene for a while, followed by advertising. In the late 90s I worked freelance in the film and television industry for 3 years. My life was finally “outside the box” but I was exhausted, overweight, unhappy and in a lot of debt.
I was working full-time in the corporate world when my late 20s snuck up on me. For you astrology fans, the time from your late 20s to early 30s is called Saturn Return. During this time, if you’ve been out of touch with your true values, you will face upheaval and major change. That’s how it was for me. Everything felt wrong and I felt confused and overwhelmed, unsure what to do.

45 lbs lighter, on Cape Cod after my first ride in a Cessna
Having struggled with my weight since my teens, when I hit 29 I got serious and started working with a health coach, joined a group program and hired a personal trainer. Because I was committed and put in the work I needed to do, by my 30th birthday I was 45 pounds lighter and in much better shape! At that time, I also started reading books about personal growth and creativity, studying acting, taking singing classes and trying my hand at writing. Feeling better about myself, I attracted my first relationship since college.
Much had changed but something was still missing. I began the search for my life’s purpose in books and career change workshops. Now that my weight and my energy had improved I began to see more possibility in my life. I knew I was meant for more than what I was doing but I didn’t know what. I realized I had a deep passion for helping others change their lives in the same way I did.
Finally I found my answer: the Professional Training Program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I’ll never forget reading the school’s catalog from cover to cover and reaching the last page which promised “this course will change your life” and from that day, it did just that.
In 2005 I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), in partnership with Columbia University Teacher’s College, the most unique nutrition school in the world, which taught me far more than dietary theories. I learned how to truly nourish myself, discovered the secrets to having a positive mindset, met hundreds of interesting, purpose-driven people, and began to design the life of my dreams.
I was trained to coach others to get healthy and improve their lives as I was improving my own. My teachers included Deepak Chopra, Andrew Weil, MD, Walter Willet, MD of Harvard School of Public Health, Top Chef’s Andrea Beaman, and master educator, Joshua Rosenthal, to name just a few.
After a year of intensive training, I left the corporate job I never loved to begin my coaching practice and live life on my own terms. I completed IIN’s Immersion graduate program in 2006 and traveled to India where I continued my studies of meditation practice and ayurvedic principles.
When I returned from living in India, a good friend and colleague introduced me to nutritional cleansing with Isagenix. Having achieved my 45 pound weight loss primarily with low-fat frozen dinners and diet Cokes, my diet changed dramatically when I started my training at IIN. My health was better and I maintained most of my weight loss with an entirely new, and much improved, diet. But over the years a few pounds had crept back on.
With Isagenix I’ve learned to lose weight the smart way. By releasing built up toxins from years of junk food, prescription meds and city living, I released 4 pounds and 3 1/2 inches during my first 9-day cleanse program in 2007. My mental and physical energy were at an all-time high and my spirit was soaring.
Since that time I’ve continued to expand my training and experience. In 2008, I visited Costa Rica to study the Yoga of Intimacy and Relationships. That same year, I completed the Holistic Lifestyle Coaching program at CHEK Institute and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) practitioner training. I’ve attended numerous Isagenix University trainings. I’m certified as a holistic health practitioner by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP) and a member of the American Holistic Health Association.
Today, I have an awesome life! My work is dedicated to showing people like you how to upgrade your health, your career and your relationships to have the freedom and joy you dream of.
